A walk of approx 7 miles partly along Isaac’s Tea Trail and partly along good paths on open moorland skirting the summit of The Dodd
Start from Nenthead Mines car park
Route: From the car park head back to the main A689 road and turn left. After a few yards follow Isaac’s Tea Trail which bears off to the right. Follow this for the next two kilometers then at Haggs Mine turn right and take the path going uphill. At the road cross over and go through the gate to enter Open Access land. The path goes through two fields to reach Hinter’s Break and continues past some mine buildings then down in to a dip to cross a stream before climbing up to meet a path coming up from the left. Turn right along this and follow this as it skirts the summit of The Dodd. The route continues on down to meet Isaac’s Tea Trail however a short detour made be made to visit the actual summit of the Dodd a short distance away. There is no path here but a cairn soon becomes visible. This however is not the highest point. This lies to the South-West. From here keep heading in roughly the same direction to reach the corner of the wall. Follow this down to the left to where the original path meets Isaac’s Tea Trail. The route now follows this back in to Nenthead.
